TV Free Morning

Kate usually wakes up in the morning and while she is groggy watches, "Katie's Shows". These include shows on Playhouse Disney: Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Handy Manny, Imagination Movers, etc. But not this morning...

Kate woke up at 3 am crying for Grandma and Pappy. Apparently, I was my Nanny's girl, always wanting to stay with her, I'd cry and throw a fit if I had to leave. So once I managed to get her back to sleep, I knew how we'd be spending our morning. The first sentence out of her mouth when she woke up at 8:30 this morning was, "I go see Grandma and Pappy."

This is very expected on a Saturday morning, because that's what we do. Kate and I crawl out of bed, allowing Jer another hour or two to sleep, get dressed and go eat breakfast with my parents. You may ask why I let Jer sleep for an extra few hours on Saturday morning...Well, it's like this, I've tried to sleep-in and simply can't - I'd love to, but I can't. For instance, this morning I woke up 7:15, Kate was still asleep and I tried to close my eyes and dream some more - it didn't work! I got up, did up the few dishes from last night (ice cream bowls from our late night snack), spent some time with God's word, prayed, and got a shower. It was great! It was like my very own time to do what I wanted to do. So, if I have to get up while she's still asleep to get some "me" time, then I guess that's what I'll do. Anyway, after the little guy is born it'll be awhile before I'm able to have any more "me" time. Sorry about that detour.

Back to this morning. Kate woke up, got dressed and off we marched to Grandma and Pappy's house. Pappy was already hard at work - my Nanny is remodeling her living room and he was helping her put new shoe molding down - we missed him, but Grandma was waiting for us. We had our last Saturday morning breakfast with Amber (she's moving on Wednesday). Grandma made us apple pancakes, sausage and chocolate milk. Kate played while I helped do up the dishes and then we came back home. I decided that we'd make the handprint that I got at my shower, I think Rocky or Erin gave it to me (don't be mad if I'm wrong). Kate was excited about that and then she helped me do some laundry. She loves to help. Her feelings get hurt if I do the dishes without her. She can put the laundry in the washer, switch it to the dryer and take it out of the dryer. I still turn the washer and dryer on, but it won't be long before I'll be over to turn over laundry duties - just kidding. Then we had a picnic on her bedroom floor and played with cars and Mrs Potato Head. I'll send some pictures. I was trying blurry backgrounds - per MkMamma's instructions. I won't know if it worked until I look at them on the computer, but I left my cable at work. Then she played outside with Jeremy and her watergun and then it was lunch time. After lunch we came home and turned on the tv to get her settled down for a nap and she's been asleep ever since. I love afternoon naps -I even took a short one.

Well, we're off to play some wiffle-ball with some friends and family at church. Hope everyone else has just as great a day.
